ITM 2026 in Medjugorje: Where Faith, Technology, and Humanity Meet

Published on July 7th, 2026

From March 5 to 8, 2026, the third ITM Conference – International Catholic IT Conference – was held in Medjugorje under the title Where Faith Meets Technology. Once again this year, Medjugorje became a meeting place for IT professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, communication experts, priests, and all those who wish to reflect on how technology can serve the human person, human dignity, and evangelization in the digital age.

The conference began with participant registration in St. John Paul II Hall, followed by a tour of the Medjugorje parish and the official opening ceremony, during which the participants were welcomed by Msgr. Aldo Cavalli, Fr. Zvonimir Pavičić, Fr. Danko Perutina, and Vedran Vidović, Director of the MIR Medjugorje Information Center.

The first lecture was given by Rev. Odilon-Gbènoukpo Singbo, a priest, theologian, and expert in digital evangelization, on the topic: “Digital Presence: How the Church Can Authentically Live the Faith in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Influencers.” From the very beginning of the conference, this opened one of the key questions of our time: how to remain authentically present, credible, and humanly close in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms, artificial intelligence, and digital media.

The conference program continued with lectures, tech talks, workshops, panels, and networking opportunities. Among the speakers were Matthew Harvey Sanders, founder and CEO of Longbeard and Magisterium AI, who spoke on intelligent tools for developing talents for evangelization; Matija Kopić, Croatian entrepreneur and expert in autonomous robotics and artificial intelligence; Sr. Marija Nina Benedikta Krapić, Deputy Director of the Holy See Press Office; Leonor Díaz Alcántara, expert in ethical innovation and human-centered design; Oliver M. Tuazon, researcher in the field of law and digital technologies; Filip Macukić, expert in generative artificial intelligence and the responsible use of new technologies; and Fr. Jozo Grbeš, Provincial of the Herzegovinian Franciscan Province, who gave a spiritual reflection on the final day.

A special place in the program was given to the AI workshop led by Filip Macukić, as well as to the panel discussion “Building Authentic Catholic Community Online,” moderated by Martina Ćurić. The panel featured Matija Kopić, Matthew H. Sanders, Leonor Díaz Alcántara, and Msgr. Petar Palić, who discussed the challenges and opportunities of building an authentic Catholic community in the digital space.

Alongside the professional and educational part of the program, ITM once again preserved what makes it distinctive – a strong spiritual dimension. Each day was marked by prayer, Holy Mass, the Rosary, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Participants also took part in the Way of the Cross, a prayer walk to Podbrdo, and common prayer at the statue of the Risen Christ. The spiritual program was led by Fr. Danko Perutina.

The ITM Conference once again showed that technology is not only a matter of progress, tools, and innovation, but also a matter of responsibility, ethics, service, and meaning. In a time of rapid digital change, participants in Medjugorje had the opportunity to seek answers together to the question of how artificial intelligence, digital tools, and communication platforms can serve goodness, truth, community, and evangelization.

Over the course of four days, knowledge and prayer, expertise and witness, technology and spirituality came together. Medjugorje once again became a meeting place for people who share the same desire: to place their talents, knowledge, and professional experience at the service of humanity and God.

The atmosphere from this year’s ITM Conference is presented in the photo gallery below.
